December 2023 Project Update

This is an overview of the DRS Futures project updates as of end of December 2023. For the full update, please visit the Monthly Reports page.

Current Project Status:

  • The team has completed the vendor demos and provided notes and feedback, as well as follow up questions.
  • Miriam Leigh, the project Business Analyst, kicked off a DRS User Group that will serve as platform for user engagement and user acceptance testing.
  • The DRS Futures technical sub-team, consisting of Stefano Cossu, the DRS Futures Repository Architect, JJ Chen, the DRS Futures Data Engineer, and Brian Hoffman, the DRS Futures Software Engineer, is continuing work on scaling and improving pilot workflow for data and content migration. Initial use of the pipeline will be for generation of high throughput delivery format images out of DRS production masters.
  • RFP evaluation panel, consisting of experts and stakeholders from across the University, is reviewing the vendor proposals.
  • Khamiya Oyelaja, the DRS Futures Change Manager, has completed change management stakeholder discovery and engagement activities that will inform implementation stage.
  • Vitaly Zakuta, DRS Futures Project Manager, in collaboration with members of Library Technology Services Leadership Team is putting together financial modeling for Phase III: Implementation and project operating tail.

Next Up:

  • Continue evaluation of vendor proposals with the goal of completion by end of January 2024
  • Continue sandbox testing of vendor solutions
  • Continue building and scaling up data transformation pipeline.
  • Continue financial modeling for project operating tail and Phase III: Implementation
  • Engage pilot workflow for data and content migration and use it for image conversion
