November 2023 Project Update

This is an overview of the DRS Futures project updates as of end of November 2023. For the full update, please visit the Monthly Reports page.

Current Project Status:

  • The team has completed the RFP Q&A and vendor response period and is now reviewing the submissions by vendors.
  • Project Manager Vitaly Zakuta and Business Analyst Miriam Leigh have assembled and trained RFP evaluation panel consisting of multiple experts and stakeholders throughout Harvard libraries, other departments and University IT stakeholders.
  • The DRS Futures technical sub-team, consisting of Stefano Cossu, the DRS Futures Repository Architect, JJ Chen, the DRS Futures Data Engineer, and Brian Hoffman, the DRS Futures Software Engineer, has spun up a pilot workflow for data and content migration. The team is continuing work on scaling and improving the workflow.
  • JJ Chen, DRS Futures Data Engineer and Brian Hoffman, DRS Futures Software Engineer, are continuing to develop a data transformation pipeline using Kubernetes and AirFlow technologies. The pilot use of the pipeline will be for generation of high throughput delivery format images out of DRS production masters.
  • Khamiya Oyelaja, the DRS Futures Change Manager, has completed change management stakeholder discovery and engagement activities that will inform implementation stage.

Next Up:

  • Complete Vendor demos.
  • Evaluate RFP responses.
  • Continue building and scaling up data transformation pipeline.
  • Spin up DRS User Group that will serve as platform for user engagement and user acceptance testing.
  • Complete change impact analysis and change readiness assessment.
