David Fairman is Senior Mediator at the Consensus Building Institute and Associate Director of the MIT-Harvard Public Disputes Program. For thirty-four years, he has facilitated consensus building on complex public and organizational issues internationally and in the U.S.

His primary focus is building effective multi-stakeholder partnerships, strategies, programs and dispute resolution systems to meet challenges of peacebuilding and sustainable development. He works extensively with the United Nations development and humanitarian system, international financial institutions, national governments, global and national NGOs and multinational corporations in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.

David was a founding board member of the Alliance for Peacebuilding, and is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from MIT, and a B.A. from Harvard College.

 

Research Interests: integrating peacebuilding and development; collaborative public problem solving as a form of peacebuilding
