This one (tune) is from the incidental music from a play called The Girl from Rector’s. George Rector was a food writer and restaurateur, and the play was probably referring to his establishment Rector’s on Broadway, known for its celebrity patrons.
There are many strange facets to popular sheet music illustration; this is only a sample of the imagination, talent and pop culture sensibility present in the Historical Sheet Music Collections.
