The Friday Outings in the first two weekswere excellent ways for students to get acclimated to transportation in Taiwan and also see Taipei’s tourist sites whilst practicing/studying Chinese.

大稻埕 Dadaocheng

Dadaocheng is a historic and cultural area where you can walk along Dihua Street, visit the tea museum, fabric market, and admire old buildings and historical sites.

行程二 Route 2

中正紀念堂 Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall

Visit the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall to learn about Taiwan’s history, then go to Rongjin Shiguang Park for a leisurely atmosphere, and finally enjoy local delicacies on Yongkang Street.

行程三 Route 3

新北投 New Beitou

To learn about the history and culture of Beitou’s hot springs, visit the Beitou Hot Spring Museum, see the nearby library shaped like a large sailboat, and explore the geothermal valley while enjoying hot spring eggs.

Week 2 Friday

Choose one from the following three routes.

行程一 Route 1

象山 & 臺北101 Mount Xiang & Taipei 101

Climb Xiang Mountain to enjoy natural scenery and views of Taipei 101, then visit Taipei 101 for a panoramic city view from the observation deck (ticket required), and if time allows, visit the Taipei World Trade Center for a unique stationery exhibition with free tickets.

行程二 Route 2

國父紀念館 & 松山文創 Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall & Songshan Cultural District

The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is dedicated to Dr. Sun Yat-sen and features a spacious plaza and gardens for walking and relaxing, then visit Songshan Cultural and Creative District for cultural activities and exhibitions, explore historic tobacco factory buildings combined with modern art, and enjoy local craft shops and cafes.

行程三 Route 3

碧潭 Bitan

Bitan offers beautiful lakes and mountain views where you can rent swan boats or pedal boats to leisurely explore the lake, or take a century-old human-powered ferry to experience the blend of tradition and nature, and enjoy food and scenic views at nearby restaurants and cafes, with paths suitable for walking and cycling.
