Fangzheng Zhang received his Master’s degree in Language and Literacy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and his Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Language and Literature from Nanjing University. He has been teaching Chinese at Harvard since 2019 across a wide range of levels, for both heritage and non-heritage learners. As Course Head for CHIN S-130C since the establishment of the Harvard Taipei Academy (HTA) in 2023, he is committed to creating an immersive, engaging, and rigorous learning environment that encourages students to communicate authentically and think critically in Chinese.

Beyond his teaching responsibilities, Zhang has presented at major international and regional conferences such as ACTFL, CLTA, and NECLTA, and co-authored peer-reviewed publications on technology-enhanced Chinese language education. He is also deeply involved in curriculum and textbook development, having co-authored the four Heritage and Expression volumes for heritage learners at the elementary and intermediate levels, which form part of the Harvard Chinese Language textbook series. In recent years, he has been actively developing customized AI agents to support Chinese learning for beginner students.

Outside the classroom, he has a wide range of interests that include exploring new culinary experiences, singing at KTV, attending concerts, and traveling to new places around the world.
