Language Instructor

Chia-Yin Yu is a Chinese language instructor who received her master’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU).
She is currently teaching at Harvard University. She was awarded the FSE Mandarin Educator Award from Fulbright and also serves as a Drill Section Instructor at Harvard Taipei Academy 2025 (HTA 2025). In addition, she has taught undergraduate and graduate students at the University of British Columbia, as well as in various Mandarin programs abroad at NTNU’s Mandarin Training Center.
Over the past five years, she has taught Chinese to students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, including learners from the United States, Canada, Germany, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand, as well as overseas Chinese people from different countries.
Her research interests focus on language and culture, pragmatics, neologisms, and sociolinguistics.
In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, exploring new languages and cultures, swimming, and Muay Thai.
