Bruce Huang is a scholar-practitioner in the field of computer science. As a practitioner, applying scholarly knowledge from his research and advanced education, Huang developed and brought to life numerous software products at IBM and his tech startups to enable enterprises to test, analyze, and manage the performance and scalability of their mission-critical infrastructure and applications. He was a managing partner and national practice executive at IBM Global Services and a VC-backed tech and education entrepreneur. Huang was named to the 2020 MIT Alumni Association Honor Roll of Service by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Huang has demonstrated a profound commitment to equity and education. He established an endowment to fund scholarships for underrepresented students, as recognized by NYU Steinhardt, and secured a $1.2 million grant to provide financially disadvantaged students access to career-focused IT programs. As the founding director of the UCLAx Silicon Beach Innovation Lab, Huang created a platform where students collaborated with global organizations like IBM, Microsoft, and NASA on pioneering projects in AI, green energy, and autonomous technology.

His research interests include nontraditional adult learner retention, experiential learning, education technology, data ethics and analytics, public policy, performance measurements, and software testing. Huang is an Affiliated Faculty of Harvard’s Institute for Quantitative Social Science (IQSS), where he continues to foster cross-disciplinary innovation and research.
Huang earned his Doctor of Education in Leadership and Innovation from New York University, Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Computer Science from Northcentral University, Master of Business Administration from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Master of Research from the University of Liverpool, and Master of Laws from Hong Kong Metropolitan University.
