We are shocked and deeply concerned that Armenians are being driven from their historical homeland in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) after Azerbaijan’s military offensive against the region on 19 September 2023. With the Republic of Artsakh’s capitulation to Azerbaijan’s demands to disarm, the civilians of Artsakh—120,000 Armenian women, children, and men—have been left defenseless against a regime that had previously starved them for over nine months by blockading the region’s only road to Armenia.
Our thoughts are with the beleaguered Armenians of Artsakh.
