Jiyun received her B.Sc. in Chemical Biology from Sun Yat-sen University in 2019 and completed her Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 2023 under Prof. Thomas Meek at Texas A&M University, where she elucidated the catalytic mechanism of SARS-CoV-2 main protease and developed peptide-based inhibitors against cysteine proteases involved in viral infection. Following two years of postdoctoral training in probe development in the Bogyo Lab at Stanford University, she joined the Zheng Lab in July 2025, where she is developing peptide binders aimed at restoring normal G protein activities for cancer treatment.
