Daphne

  • Categories: Flora & Funga, Portraits
A woman transforming into a tree, eyes closed. From the waist down she has become a brown, twisting trunk; above the waist, her pale skin is being mottled over with bark, her hand stretches out into branches, and leaves spring from her hair and arms.

by Naiara Zerlotini

Acrylic, paper, wood

Based on the myth of Daphne and the god Apollo. The myth deals with themes of unrequited love, the consequences of unbridled desire, and the preservation of personal autonomy.
