Boston Public Library Special Collections Open Houses, 1100-1300; 1400-1600 [Registration Required]
The Boston Public Library’s Rare Books Department presents new and notable collection holdings relating to Medieval and Renaissance Studies in its fourth-floor reading room. Staff will be on hand to answer questions about collections and services. While registration is required, attendees are welcome to come by at any point during the open house hours.

Tour of the Museum of Fine Arts Byzantine Art Gallery, 1400-1500 [Registration Required]
The Museum of Fine Arts recently reinstalled its collections of Greek and Roman art and material culture, which included a new gallery dedicated to the cultures of Byzantium. This tour, led by Anastasia Christophilopoulou, George D. and Margo Behrakis Chair of Art of Ancient Greece & Rome, will introduce the collections at the MFA and showcase highlights of the Byzantine holdings.

Tour of the Museum of Fine Arts Islamic and Southeast Asian Galleries, 1500-1600 [Registration Required]
The MFA’s world-class holdings of Asian art count among the most important collections in the country. Tour relevant galleries with Assistant Curator of Islamic Art Nadirah Mansour and Laura Weinstein, Ananda Coomaraswamy Curator of South Asian and Islamic Art, with discussions covering medieval works and the important collectors responsible for the formation of the collection.

Museum of Fine Arts Study Sessions: Gold Threads in Medieval Textiles, 1400-1500 & 1500-1600 [Registration Required]
Go behind the scenes to view a selection from the MFA’s little-studied but spectacular collection of medieval European textiles. Led by Head of Textile Conservation Meredith Montague and Elizabeth Dospel Williams, Penny Vinik Chair of the MFA Department of Fashion, Textiles, and Jewelry, these sessions will focus on the technologies for making precious metal threads and their appearance in medieval textiles.
