A study session with Reed Johnston Morgan, Ph.D. candidate in medieval history and archeology at Harvard University, focused on rarely-seen photos, paintings, and prints from the collections of the Harvard Art Museum pertaining to Kenneth Conant’s excavations and studies of Cluny Abbey from 1928 to 1950.

A hands-on workshop about medieval coin and medal production with Francesca Bewer, Research Curator for conservation and technical study programs at the Strauss Center for Conservation, and Dr. Eurydice Georganteli, Lecturer on Medieval Art and Archeology at Harvard University.

A celebration of the recent publication of The Oxford Chaucer with editors Christopher Cannon and James Simpson, commemorating the magnificent contributions to the volume made by Dr. Mary-Jo Arn (March 28, 1942 — December 14, 2024).

L9. Guided tour of the Adolphus Busch Hall Medieval Plaster Cast Collection, 1215-1330 [Registration Required]

Built between 1914 and 1917 to house Harvard’s new Germanic Museum (now the Busch-Reisinger Museum), Adolphus Busch Hall (29 Kirkland Street) now houses a rare collection of high-quality plaster casts of medieval European sculptures, statuary, and metalwork, many of them donated to the museum by Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany in 1903. Join Lynette Roth, Daimler Curator of the Busch-Reisinger Museum, for an in-depth look at the collection, its history, and its role in art education at Harvard and beyond.
