Lawrence “Larry” is an African American health advocate, scientist, full-stack developer, collaborative storyteller, visual artist, and information designer. He has written and co-written on public health topics as a freelance writer for Slate and Vox, co-authored public health op-Eds in the Orlando SentinelVancouver Sun, and KevinMD, and has served as a panelist and speaker at Harvard, Florida State University (FSU), and University of South Florida. His contributions and co-contributions to the social sciences are the subject of his TEDxtalk, highlighted by Fast Company and Gizmodo Japan, cited in “Real World Python” (No Starch Press), published in Practicing Anthropology, and quoted in Community Engagement Through Collaborative Writing (Routledge). His note-taking app, “Columns,” has ranked as a top-10 education app in the Mac App Store. He received his S.M. from Harvard Medical School where he was distinguished as a Dean’s Scholar, and is a “Notable Nole” alumnus of FSU where he received dual Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degrees in Biological Science and Studio Art.
