Field labs are sustained efforts to facilitate cross-agency and cross-sector collaborations to solve public problems. Jorrit has led several field labs over the course of his career, including the Organized Crime Field Lab and the Human Trafficking Field Lab. Over 60 cross-boundary crime fighting teams in the Netherlands and Belgium have participated leading to innovative interventions and changes in crime-fighting policy and practice. The work also informed new research and curriculum development on cross-boundary collaboration, leading to books, teaching cases and publications in peer-reviewed academic journals.

The Innovation Field Lab focused on neighborhood revitalization in 15 cities in Massachusetts and the State of New York by reinventing approaches to dealing with distressed properties and at-risk households. Leveraging data, collaboration, and innovation across silos, collaboration IFL helped cities become  more responsive to actual needs, more proactive in preventing harm, and a more effective learning organization focused on continuous improvement. The Lab also resulted in new research and curriculum development.
