Alyson Cunningham

Director of Marketing

Alyson Cunningham is a hospitality strategist, creative brand builder, and ALB Candidate in
Psychology at Harvard Extension School. With over 15 years of leadership experience across
fine dining, marketing, and events, she is known for developing innovative, sustainability-driven
models that balance exceptional guest experiences with human well-being.

Most recently, Alyson served as General Manager of SHIA, a nonprofit Korean tasting-menu
restaurant in Washington, D.C., where she built systems rooted in ritual, sustainability, and
Michelin-level service. She now leads as Director of Sales for Episcope Hospitality, driving
brand strategy and community engagement across a portfolio of Northern Virginia venues.
Beyond operations, Alyson is the founder of The Break Room Project, a platform and content
series addressing burnout and emotional sustainability in hospitality. She also brings her
storytelling expertise to the Harvard Extension School Psychology Student Club, where she
serves as Director of Marketing.

Her academic research in psychology centers on trauma, resilience, and the intersection of
work culture and mental health – work that complements her long-term vision of bridging
hospitality, therapy, and creativity. She is committed to reimagining how industries can thrive
without burning out the people who power them.
Outside of work, Alyson is a writer, photographer, and candle maker, with a love for food, travel,
and everyday rituals that connect people, both to each other and to themselves.
