Kate (Mitchell) Vellucci has committed work in sustainability and community development efforts for 15 years, largely with non-profits, corporate philanthropists, activated music fans, school system stakeholders, government, and under-invested food systems producers. An astute generalist, a joyful leader, and an innovator, Kate holds dear a track record of effectively building community in-person and online across countries and continents in impact toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals, believing partnerships (SDG 17) is the way.

Kate earned a BA in Mass Communication from the University of Maine in Orono, studied Global Marketing and Public Relations abroad in London through Boston University, has completed educational intensives with the Institute for Social Ecology, Duke Stump’s Bonfire with Soul, Alice Waters’ The Edible Schoolyard, and UMaine Master Gardeners, and earned a Masters Degree in Global Development Practice from Harvard Extension School.

After leading a USDA grants award-winning Farm to School program, Kate most recently provided capacity-building support and technical assistance for Flower Hill Institute, a Native-led organization hosting a cooperative agreement with the USDA in food systems resilience development, and served as a teaching assistant for a Food Systems and Social Justice course taught through Harvard Summer School. Kate lives in Maine with her husband, chocolate lab, and flock of chickens among a wild ecosystem, loves spending time with family and friends, enjoying art, travel, fly-fishing, and the great outdoors, and is thrilled to serve graduating classmates as a continued community connector in the role of Past-Chair for the GDP Student Society 2023 Academic year term.
