About the fund

On December 15, 1947, it was voted that, in accordance with the recommendations of the Chairman of the Department of The Classics, the Librarian of Harvard College and the Provost, a new Library endowment fund to be called the Edward Kennard Rand Memorial be established. The income of the new fund to be expended for the benefit of the Department of The Classics at the discretion of the Department; and that the following be transferred to the new fund: 1. Balance of gifts for the purchase of Professor Rand’s library not needed for this purpose. 2. Proceeds from sale of duplicate books from Professor Rand’s library. 3. Bequest of Professor Rand for the benefit of the Classical Department.
