About the fund

The gift and bequest of Professor James Lee Love A. M. 1890 to be known as The William Elwood Byerly Book Fund for the purchase of books, prints, periodicals, paintings, engravings, maps, charts, or pamphlets, to be used for educational purposes, in any library, museum, laboratory, reading room, lecture hall, or classroom belonging to or used by Harvard University. I have only one suggestion: since I taught mathematics at Harvard for twenty years, and Professor Byerly was so unusual a teacher of that subject, it would please me (and would have been his wish also) if books on mathematical subjects are favored in purchases from this fund.
