Dr. Doyon is an historian of archaeology and modern Egypt. She is currently based in Cairo, where she is working on the publication of a research monograph based on her doctoral dissertation (Empire of Dust: Egyptian Archaeology and Archaeological Labor in Nineteenth-Century Egypt, 2021). She has studied the HUMFA Arabic diary manuscripts for years in connection with her research and has written several articles on the history of archaeological labor, the political economy of antiquities in modern Egypt, and the history and culture of archaeological reis-technicians from Quft. She is also a member of the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU excavations at Abydos.
