Geoff Emberling
Research Scientist, Kelsey Museum of Archaeology
Lecturer in Mesopotamian and Nubian Archaeology, University of Michigan
Dr. Emberling’s research interests include the social, economic, and political transformations brought about by state formation and imperial conquest. His earlier fieldwork focused on the site of Tell Brak in northeastern Syria, an important early Mesopotamian city. Now he works in northern Sudan (ancient Kush), focusing on the (former) HU–MFA Expedition sites of El Kurru, and more recently Gebel Barkal.
