The Last Mile Project

This project is coordinated by Xiaoyue Dai, and involves a collaboration between Dr. Junlei Li and Dr. Si Chen’s team at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Project Description:

The Last Mile Project focuses on providing 15-minute online lesson series and live Q&A sessions for in-service preschool teachers in low-resource settings. Participants include school administrators and leaders.

This project is inspired by the educators that Dr. Junlei Li and Dr. Si Chen met while conducting workshops and presentations in China. Teachers wanted “theories” that supported their work, rather than “theories” that are so academic that they seem detached from everyday life. The name “Last Mile” (最后一公里）conveys the idea that we need to push our theories and training to that last mile so that it can actually meet teachers where they are.

We develop easily accessible, free online workshops to help teachers reflect upon their experiences and recognize the beauty of their everyday moments with children and even with each other.
