Francisco Alvarez

Francisco Alvarez was a Goldsmith, RCCHU, and Rose Fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He graduated with a Master of Public Health and a concentration in Public Health Leadership in 2024. During his practicum at the school, concerned by the high toll on mental health and the scale of violence and instability in Ecuador, he ran multiple Pre-Text workshops raising mental health awareness. Through Pre-Text, he gathered more than 30 school directors, educators, and health professionals from private and public schools to learn, explore, and destigmatize mental health care. Through this project, mental health awareness and promotion are propelled by the power of Pre-Text, transforming environments into dynamic spaces that foster creativity, reduce anxiety, and enhance literacy. In Boston, he has facilitated different workshops on mental health using Pre-Text, running the “Amoeba Tour” at museums in the city and bringing students to discover the intersection of mental health and arts. His ultimate goal is to transform environments where children, teachers, and adults thrive, promote active citizenship, and use arts as the backbone for development, propelled by Pre-Text. He enjoys painting, writing poetry, and visiting museums in his free time.
