Asha Banerjee is a Doctoral Student in the Population Studies and Social Policy program at Princeton University. In 2023, she was selected as a Fellow in the Chief Economist’s Office at the U.S. Department of Labor. Prior to that she was an analyst on the research team at the Economic Policy Institute. She holds an MPhil in Economic and Social History from the University of Oxford, where her research focused on industrial union response to economic shocks. Asha’s research interests focus on labor, unions, and inequality. She hopes to examine the historical development and persistence of racial disparities in the economy and the power and limitations of government and other institutional interventions.
