Lloyd Cabot Briggs played an important administrative role in the ASPR during the mid-twentieth century as a Trustee of the ASPR. he was also closely engaged in fieldwork and publications, and he appears frequently in the reports as both a participant and occasionally co-director of projects. For example, Briggs worked closely with Hugh Hencken, Bruce Howe, and Charles Stearns during the ASPR–Tufts University expedition in northern Algeria in 1949. He also played a part in the earlier excavations of Mugharet el ‘Aliya in Morocco, where he contributed to the classification and publication of Aterian tool types, many of which are still used today.
