Bruce Howe was affiliated with Harvard University and worked closely with the American School of Prehistoric Research (ASPR) in the mid-20th century. In several bulletins he is listed as part of the ASPR–Tufts expedition staff, and he often took part in both fieldwork and publication efforts. In 1949, He participated in the excavations of caves near Tipasa and at Kouali Point, which revealed sequences of Aterian, post-Aterian, and Neolithic industries in relation to coastal sea-level changes. In the ASPR bulletins, Howe’s research often emphasized the correlation of archaeological deposits with geological and environmental sequences, and he also made important contributions to publications and report writing.
