Bio

Professor Andi T. Remoquillo is a Lecturer on History and Literature which a specialty in gender and Asian American Studies, Filipinx American history, and anti-colonial feminist approaches to conducting ethnography, oral histories, and archival research. Her research focuses on the ways in which second generation Filipina American women grapple with notions of community, home, belonging, and memory in the Chicago area. Her current book manuscript brings together oral history, critical ethnography, and socio-cultural histories that showcase the ways in which the twentieth-century Filipino American diaspora in Chicago began with Filipina/American women and was shaped by multiple liminal positionings.

Before arriving at Harvard, Andi was a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in American Studies at Wellesley College where she taught courses on Asian American history, Asian American methodologies, and Feminist and Asian American Life Writing. She is teaching Asian American Cultural Studies in the Fall 2024 semester, which draws from cultural and historical texts to explore Asian American history and identity from 1875 to present.
