Gillian Moody-Ardler

Gillian Moody-Ardler is a proud Wodi Wodi/Dharawal/Yuin woman who lives and works on Gadigal Country in Sydney Australia. Her Country and family connections are with Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community in Jervis Bay. Gillian has worked in both management and production roles during her extensive years in the screen industry. She is well respected for her advocacy for First Nation Stories as a producer, writer, director, industry mentor, advisor and story developer. 2023 saw two award winning films premier for Gillian, her feature documentary Kindred co-directed with Adrian Russell Wills and Co-Produced with Tom Zubrycki, premiered at Sydney Film Festival (SFF) then at Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) where Gillian and Adrian were awarded the inaugural First Nations Film Creative Award. Gillian also produced short film Katele (Mudskipper) which premiered at and was awarded the 2023 Flickerfest Best Australian Short Film, its first of many screenings and awards. Her work across narrative and factual storytelling has screened on SBS, ABC, NITV and 10Play. Gillian continues to develop and collaborate on screen projects alongside her current role as Senoir Manager, First Nations Engagement at the National Film and Sound Archives of Australia. Gillian is passionate in sharing First Nations stories and sees her role as a multidisciplinary filmmaker and at the NFSA as a great opportunity to reach our communities and to collaborate in centring Indigenous voices in the telling of our national story.
