LAYOUT TIPS – Home Page Variation 3 – Portrait + Static Blocks
This is another home page layout option. If this is closer to the preferred final layout of your site, you can make this page the home page in the Dashboard > Settings > Reading > Your Homepage Displays. Otherwise, you can copy / paste these block variations onto the current home page and customize the layout / settings using the block editor.
The portrait design variation at the top of the page is an alternative banner design to the hero. It is pre-configured using the Media & Text block, which is flexible enough to account for a variety of image dimensions and aspect ratios. In the page edit view, click on the image, then Replace directly above to upload your own headshot. There are more sizing and layout options in the block settings on the right hand panel.
Static blocks refers to the rest of the page elements, which are content blocks that faculty / researchers/ students typically have, using proper heading structure. The Featured Cards at the bottom are using Columns blocks that you can use to manually feature relevant publications, projects, media, etc.
